Sasol has further added to its significant participation and sponsorship of National Rallying in South Africa, with the announcement of the continued backing of the SA National Rally Championship 2005, the Sasol Rally 2005 (10-11 June) and full or part support for no fewer than nine teams competing in Classes N4, N3, A7 and A5.

The Sasol SA Rally Championship 2005 commences with the Hitachi Power Tools Tour Natal in KwaZulu Natal on 4 and 5 March, the first of the eight events on the MSA calendar.

In addition to providing financial support to the MSA Rally Commission, television programmes and marketing leverage for the championship, Sasol intends providing many more on-event attractions to encourage more members of the public to enthuse about the sport, including the "Sasol Performance Playground" (entertainment facility) on most events.

The famous Sasol Rally, organized by the SAM Club, will again follow the popular format around Sabie, White River and Nelspruit on 10 and 11 June, with spectator tar stages in each of the towns always a major drawcard.

Sasol is increasing its prescence in the Championship by supporting worthy privateers.

In Class N4, carrying the new blue and yellow Sasol / sasol delight colour scheme, Fernando Rueda and Martin Botha (Sasol Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8) and Richard Behm and Grant St.Clair (Sasol Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6) will be out to take on the new S2000 works Toyotas and Volkswagen Polos.

Team sasol delight members, Visser du Plessis/Thilo van Westerhagen (Metmeister Subaru Impreza), Johnny Gemmel / Martie Olivier (L&J Plant Hire Services Subaru Impreza) and the "Rally Chicks", Lola and Megan Verlaque (Bosch Subaru Impreza) will carry the yellow that depicts the Sasol convenience centers around South Africa.

Barry Grobbelaar and Mike Burrows, long time supporters of Sasol, will also run in the same livery in their Class A7 Volkswagen Golf.

Of most significance, Sasol is introducing two top driving aces to National Rallying in the form of multiple karting and Formula Ford Champion, Claudio Piazza-Musso, and Phillip Kekana, the 2002 Class D Production Car Champion, who will also continue his campaign in the Sasol Toyota RunX Rsi in Class B of the Sahara Production Car Championship.

Cape Town-based Piazza Musso will drive a Class N3 Sasol Toyota RunX Rsi, with the experienced Janine Labuschagne alongside him, while Kekana has Rod Hering in the hotseat in his Class A5 Toyota Tazz for 2005.
