Following the acquisition of a share in Kawasaki SA, Associated Motor Holdings has gained a majority share of Italmoto SA, the local importer of Cagiva, MV Augusta and Husqvarna bikes.

Italmoto will continue to operate from its Primrose, Germiston premises, with Marco Liberatore remaining managing director and Marcello Gasparini in charge of after sales. Their current independent motorcycle dealerships throughout the country will continue to receive AMH’s support, but Italmoto plans to increase its outlets by eight to 10 within the next 12 months.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to grow our business, and we’re looking forward to having the financial muscle and logistical support of Associated Motor Holdings behind us,” said Liberatore, whose family founded Italmoto in October 1997. “Now that the motorcycle industry is back on a growth path it makes clear business sense for us to have a partner like AMH”.

In addition to motorcycles, Italmoto will continue to import and distribute highly-rated motorcycle products such as Spyke leathers, Ganelli exhausts, Brembo brakes and WRP wheels.
