McCarthy Motor Holdings recently opened its first Chevrolet dealership in Menlyn, Pretoria.

Chevrolet was reintroduced in South Africa towards the end of 2003 and captured under two per cent of the total passenger market by the end of its first full year of sales. The dealer network has expanded from 14 dealerships to 24 by 2005.

"Chevrolet is a much loved brand, known for quality, performance and affordability. We are therefore confident that our new dealership will do well," said Brand Pretorius, chairman of McCarthy Motor Holdings.

"Chevrolet South Africa is delighted that the country's largest motor retailer, McCarthy Motor Holdings, has invested in the Chevrolet brand," said Arthur Boyle, Chevrolet's marketing manager. "McCarthy obviously has confidence in the brand, and we know that they have the capability to effectively represent our franchise to the highest standards."

Chevrolet is General Motors' single largest international brand, with worldwide sales of just over 3,6 million units per annum. The McCarthy dealer network currently comprises 86 outlets, representing 18 different franchises.
