This weekend sees the start of the Castrol Xtreme Auto Show at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg on Saturday.

The show will run from Saturday, August 6, to Tuesday, August 9 (Women’s day), and will showcase a variety of aftermarket vehicle specialists and family activities.

The event kicks off with a drifting demonstration on Friday night (August 5) in the parking lot of the Northgate Shopping Centre. Sure to be a firm favourite with the crowds, the free demonstration will be staged from six to 10 pm, where professional drivers will put supercharged Nissan 350Zs (provided by Rob Green Motorsport) fitted with sustom suspension (by SAX shocks) and nitrous oxide through their paces.

In addition, top motocross riders will be performing stunts, such as ramping over the drifting cars, to keep the crowds enthralled.

More than 100 aftermarket specialists, ranging from car audio and multimedia, performance parts, suspension and electronics exhibitors will be represented at the four-day show.

Tickets cost R60 for adults, R30 for teens and pensioners, and kids under 12 enter free. Other activities include freestyle motocross, quadricycle, and mountain biking exhibitions, and BMX displays.

The event will be open daily from nine AM to six PM, and you can contact (011) 781 5351 for more information.
