Pronounced Tra-jhzay (French for "journey", “course” or "route") the styling on this big MPV is neat, yet conservative. Doors are of the normal hinged type and the seating arrangements are 2-2-3, with the rearmost seat split 60:40. The front seats can be swivelled around through 180 degrees for picnics, card playing or simply socialising, and the centre and rear seat backrests fold forward to make tables with cup holders. The rear seats may be removed to offer a completely flat floor, maximising loading versatility.

Two models only are offered. The 2,7 V6 Trajet delivers peak power of 131 kW at 6 000 r/min with maximum torque of 245 N.m at 4 000. The six-cylinder engine is a lightweight, 24-valve design, already fitted to the Sonata and Tiburon as well as the Tucson and Terracan.

This is mated to an automatic transmission operated via a steering column-mounted shift lever. This feature allows more floor space as well as walk-through access to the cabin behind.

The five-speed manual 2,0-litre CRDi (diesel) engine delivers 84 kW at 4 000 r/min and a peak torque output of 250 N.m at 1 800 r/min. Standard features include a sunroof and cruise control. Dual front airbags are fitted.

The Trajet comes standard with a three-year/60 000km maintenance plan and a three-year/100 000km factory warranty.

Pricing for the two models:
