The current Hyundai Getz has been an overnight success in this country and in many parts of the world, and the updated version, shown in Korean recently, could be on its way to South Africa.

The car was recently launched at a race track event in its home market, where it is known as the Click.

Since its launch in 2002, the Getz has been an unqualified success, with the manufacturer claiming close to 550 000 units sold since then.

With its facelift, the Getz has essentially received a new grille and a revised rear light cluster. Virtually all the remaining cosmetic components remain unchanged.

New safety equipment, such as active head restraints, have been included, too. Convenience features now also include steering wheel mounted audio controls.

A 1,4-litre petrol unit will reportedly replace the current 1,3-litre unit, but Hyundai SA spokesperson Elisma Delport told CARtoday.com that the local subsidiary had not yet heard any news concerning the model from the company's Korean headquarters. She added that, should the car be destined for the local market, it could only become available after the first quarter of 2006.
