Honda's Jazz and Civic ranges recently received a boost when the siblings were voted the best used cars in their respective categories by a top British magazine.

One of Britain's biggest motoring magazines, Auto Express, recently voted the Honda Jazz as the best used car of the year. The sub-compact won for the second time in a row. The judges noted the smooth gearbox and shift action, but raved about the car's packaging.

"The real beauty of the Jazz is its packaging. The car is immensely practical with its excellent loading abilities – fold the seats, and there's nearly as much space in there as a delivery van."

"The Jazz has an excellent reputation for reliability. Throw in minimal depreciation and low running costs, and it is a worthy winner."

Big brother Civic was voted the favourite used compact family car for the third year in a row, and was hailed as being a "fantastic all-rounder".

Locally, Honda has also been in the spotlight with the independent operation fairing particular well in the inaugural JD Power and Associates Initial Quality Survey for South Africa.

"This applies to the quality of our products, the quality of our dealer network, and the quality of all our dealings with our customer base," said Hiroaki Shibata, managing director of Honda South Africa.

"We are a strongly engineering-driven company, and this may go some way to explaining our approach to marketing our products: it's driven by a company culture of doing things right, and starting with the right foundations. It is an approach that bears fruit whether you're designing a car (even an innovative, free-thinking model such as the forthcoming FR-V), or ramping-up in a new market," he concluded.
