When Peugeot's 407 was launched last year, its dramatic styling polarised opinion with observers either loving or hating it. The 407 Coupé Prologue is set to make its debut at Geneva next month, and if the hints are anything to go by, more people will soon join the "loving it" camp.

The car is a strong indication of what the 407 Coupé should look like once it is launched next year. Adapted from the strikingly designed 407 saloon and sports wagon models, the sleek two-door presents a more refined and polished look.

Beneath the surface, the concept is equipped with a V6 diesel engine with a maintenance-free particle emission filter, and develops a peak power output of 150 kW and maximum torque of 440 N.m. The V6 is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential controls.

Exterior styling, particularly at the front, borrows heavily from the saloon. The light clusters are more angular, contrasting with round, deep-set fog lamps to add to the car's expressiveness.

At the rear, the concept has a spoiler integrated into the boot lid, chrome-plated dual exhaust pipes and 19-inch alloy wheels for a sporty look.

Suspension comes directly from the saloon, with double wishbones and drop links at the front and a multi-arm setup at the rear. Standard equipment includes directional xenon lights, parking assistance at the front and rear, and a multifunction device with colour display.

On the inside, the concept's facia is finished in aluminium and red leather, which is, in turn, carried over to the seats. Again, the instrument panel with the five circular dials is similar to existing 407s.

The Geneva Motor Show will also host the unveiling of the 107 city car, developed in conjunction with sister manufacturer Citroën and Toyota, and the 1007 mini-MPV. A 206 CC with a 1,6-litre diesel engine will also be included in the Peugeot lineup following its Geneva launch.
