While some might argue that the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is the epitome of motoring individuality, tuning house Brabus seemingly disagrees - and decided to develop a breathtaking 486 kW version of the Stuttgart supercar!

Owners of the SLR already bored with their cars’ 460 kW power output now have the option to further individualise their vehicles. The racing version comes with improved fuel cooling, custom camshafts and an open racing exhaust system.

Maximum output of the V8 has been upped to 486 kW at 6 500 r/min, allowing the engine to propel the SLR to 100 km/h from a standing start in 3,6 seconds. Its top speed is a claimed 340 km/h.

The body, suspension and interior have also been modified. For greater high-speed stability, a new spoiler (of exposed carbon) has been added to the front air dam.

Highly polished 20-inch wheels fill out the flared wheel arches perfectly and, in addition to being eye-catching, are also claimed to further improve the SLR's handling abilities.

On the inside, the cabin is finished in a striking red and black leather and Alcantara combination. Brabus has designed a steering wheel with a flat bottom to make it easier for drivers to enter and exit the SLR’s cocooning cabin space.

The centre console, facia and door inserts are all made of the same material as the car’s exterior - carbon fibre!
