Audi seems to be on a new product offensive these last few months. With almost every new week there is a new model being launched by Ingolstadt.

As the A3 family has grown to accommodate the Sedan and more recently the hotter S3 variants of the cooking variety A3 bodystyle. Now, ahead of the Geneva Motor Show where it will make its public debut, Audi has released these images of the S3 cabriolet. This is the first time that we have seen the drop-top model boast the same engine/drivetrain layout as the hotter hatchback models.

We can expect the same turbocharged, direct injection, inline four pot, which in overseas markets produces 221 kW, but detuned locally to 206 kW to deal with warmer ambient temperatures. Drive will be delivered to all wheels via a twin-clutch transmission, which should provide acceleration times in the low 5,0-second bracket.

Visually the roofless S3 is differentiated by a lower stance, bespoke alloys, alloy-look mirror caps, different bumpers and deeper side sills. The fabric roof can be lowered while on the move at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Considering that we receive all other A3/S3 variants locally, it can't be long before one will be able to buy the Audi S3 cabriolet from your local dealer.
