Automotive - importers and distributors of MG, Rover and Bentley in South Africa – has been released from his day-to-day operational responsibilities following his appointment as executive director.

According to a spokesman for Pearl Automotive, the importers and distributors made the organisational change “in order to expand its (the company’s) South African market operations”.

Albert Venter has been appointed acting managing director of MG Rover and Bentley South Africa with immediate effect. Venter, who joined the company in June 2001 as logistics manager and was subsequently appointed to the board as sales and marketing manager, will be responsible for importer and dealership activites.

“The restructuring will enable Rademeyer to concentrate on fine-tuning the company's long term strategic direction and (forging) closer working relationships with MG Rover and Bentley UK to ensure South African operations form an integral part of the future expansion programme of both UK companies,” the spokesman said.
