Red Bull Racing has confirmed that three drivers will race for the team this year with the announcement of Christien Klien and Vitantonio Liuzzi’s contracts.

After completing a round of winter testing, the two young stars – Klien is 21, while Liuizzi is 23 – have signed one-year contracts for 2005, in which they will be racing as well as testing. Both drivers will have the option to renew their contracts after the 2005 season.

Klien raced for the Jaguar team in 2004 and recorded a best finish of sixth position at Spa whereas Liuzzi was the F3000 champion in 2004. Both drivers have been testing for the team recently, though it has not yet been decided who will race alongside the more experienced David Coulthard at the Australian Grand Prix on March 6.

Though Red Bull seems keen to swap the remaining race seat between the two drivers, the team’s management will use the upcoming Barcelona tests to decide on the initial line-up. The tests are due to start on February 18, giving the drivers very little time to become accustomed to their new race seats.

Coulthard also signed a one-year contract in December last year and, with 175 grands prix and 13 victories, brings a wealth of experience to the newest team on the grid.
