Grant Fredericks has been appointed dealer principal of the restructured and upgraded Subaru Cape Town outlet at Culemborg. The Culemborg dealership and its satellite sales and service facility in Tygerberg were recently upgraded to provide "even higher levels of service and a Subaru buying experience", the group said.

Fredericks has 10 years' experience in the motor industry and "loves a challenge. I more than tripled sales for one of the brands that was experiencing difficulties in a local (Western Cape) dealership and had successes in the MG/Rover stable - despite their problems which have been well documented in the local and international media."

Grant said it would be his priority to ensure customer satisfaction. "I intend to have a happy and motivated team. 'Red Carpet' treatment is the very least I want to offer - before, during and after the purchase," he added.

Managing Director of Subaru South Africa Teresita van Gaalen said Barloworld's Subaru Cape operations had recorded an increase of 117 per cent in June compared with the corresponding month last year.

"Year to Date, it is pleasing to report an 87 per cent aggregate increase in retail sales for the Culemborg and Tygervalley Barloworld Subaru dealerships, " Van Gaalen added. "What has taken place in the Western Cape is part of a Subaru dealer network consolidation process being implemented countrywide with our highest priorities being to ensure a world class service and attendant customer satisfaction indexes".
