The defending WSBK champion, James Toseland, recorded his best race weekend of the season when the Briton secured podium finishes (including a win) in both races at Silverstone.

After a disappointing start to the season, the Xerox Ducati team of Regis Laconi and James Toseland took first and third places in the first race at Silverstone.

Yamaha Italia’s Noriyuki Haga’s fantastic start was short-lived as Corser soon took over to lead the race. He was forced to retire his machine on lap 25 after running out of fuel - a problem later attributed to a faulty fuel pump.

Leading points scorer Troy Corser finished second on his Suzuki Alstare machine and Winston Ten Kate Honda’s Chris Vermeulen finished fourth.

Klaffi Honda team-mates Pierfranceso Chili and Max Neukirchner both had top ten finishes. Veteran Chili finished fifth and Neukirchner (who is still recovering from a hand injury sustained at Valencia) finished in seventh position.

After passing Corser on lap 17 of the second race, an determined Toseland went on to win the second race at Silverstone.

The Suzuki Alstare rider maintained the second podium spot ahead of Yamaha Italia’s Noriyuki Haga, whose podium finish was especially welcome after his unfortunate departure in the first race.

Winston Ten Kate Honda’s Chris Vermeulen rode solidly to finish in an unchallenged fourth place ahead of the veteran racer, Klaffi Honda’s Pierfrancesco Chili.

PSG-1 Kawasaki’s Chris Walker ended his race weekend with a successive sixth position.
