Robert Wolk has built a 20-point lead in the Formula Ford championship, but after sharing the spoils with Stevie Morris at Scribante, the 19-year seeks a clean sweep at Kyalami on Saturday.

In round four, which was held at the Port Elizabeth circuit, Wolk (AfintaPart Mygale) dominated race one for his fifth win of the year after Morris spun and collected a few of the front runners.

Englishman Morris (DAW Racing /Investchem Mygale) managed to repair his car for race two to notch up his third victory of the year and Wolk finished third. However, the combined result was enough for Wolk to extend his lead in championship.

There was speculation that Port Elizabeth would be Morris’ last race as the car he was driving was to be leased to a third party. However, a deal has been agreed and he will line up at Kyalami.

David Veringa in the Sabat / Playstation2 Van Diemen has endured a torrid season. His misfortune continued at Port Elizabeth when he was hit by the spinning Morris and forced out for the day. Having started the season as one of the title favourites Veringa has suffered a number of mishaps and has yet to show the speed necessary to take a win. He is third in the points standings, but he will be desperate for that first win of the year after taking two second place finishes at the opening round at Kyalami.

Meanwhile, Donovan Howard (Associated Auto / WAP Alto Mygale) clawed his way into fourth place in the championship. He is yet to score a win, but has shown great improvement this year and will be looking to mix it at the head of the field.

Armani Jamrozinski (Diesel / Pilot Freight Van Diemen) missed the first two rounds of the series, but two second places in Port Elizabeth to go with a third and fourth in the previous round has seen him catapult up to fifth in the standings. He is a proven race winner and can’t be discounted for victory this weekend.

Martin Robinson (HydroMobile Mygale) lies sixth in the championship after also scoring consistently during the year. He could only manage a fifth and eighth place last time out, so will be hoping for an improved performance this weekend.

Jayde Kruger (Wap Alto Mygale) has shown that he is quick enough to run at the head of the pack. However, four non-scores to date sees him lagging in equal sixth place in the standings.

Ford’s development driver Jennifer Murray (Ford Credit/Ford Racing Van Diemen) showed some of her old pace in Port Elizabeth when she qualified fifth. She finished a solid sixth in Race One, but a gamble on rain tyres for Race Two did not pay off for her. However, the event demonstrated once she gets to grips with her new Van Diemen, Murray will again run upfront.
