Back in April 2018, Ford announced it had officially licensed Classic Restorations in the United States to build brand new "turn-key" versions of three very special Mustangs. And now the firm has lifted the wraps off its first “continuation” model at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Dressed in appropriately named "Vengeance Black" paintwork, this is the revived 1969 Mustang Boss 429.

Interestingly, the Oklahoma-based company opted to not build it from scratch, but rather restore an original ... and make some modern changes to the car.

This "new" 'Stang is now equipped with a 9,0-litre V8 engine that sends a staggering 608 kW to the rear wheels via a Tremac manual gearbox. Kaase Boss Nine cylinder heads, Worx long-tube headers and a MagnaFlow stainless steel exhaust have also been fitted. Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes help bring this brute of a machine to a halt.

To add to its sinister looks, this model rides on black 18-inch American Racing alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport rubber. The interior features a custom-built centre console, TMI seats, an aluminium steering wheel and a Kicker audio system.

According to Jason Engel, owner of Classic Restorations, the modern chassis and updated engine technology make this Boss 429 quicker and much easier to live with than the original model. Engel added that the original car was so rare and valuable now that most owners simply didn't want to drive them.

This, then, is a 429 Boss made for driving ... if you have $209 000 (that’s R3 032 495,95 in local currency) to spare.
