Fiat Chrysler Automobiles SA has announced that just 19 examples of the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Race Edition II have been made available locally.

The price? Some R1 550 000, which is R124 000 more than the “standard” model. Interestingly, the original Race Edition launched in South Africa back in early 2017 went for R1 600 000.

This latest limited-edition Giulia QV Race Edition II gains a smattering of upgraded components from the Mopar accessories range, including carbon-fibre-backed sports seats, coloured brake callipers (either red or yellow), a Harman Kardon sound system, 19-inch Quadrifoglio alloys, a limited-edition decal and carbon-fibre sill plates with illuminated “Alfa Romeo” branding.

LED door lights (projecting the “Alfa Romeo”), a carbon-fibre front grille, an aluminium fuel cap, a carbon-fibre gear lever insert, a special key cover plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality are also standard.

Locally, three exterior colours will be offered: Alfa Red, Silverstone Grey and Vesuvio Grey.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the same twin-turbo 2,9-litre V6 as used in the standard Giulia QV, sending 375 kW and 600 N.m to the rear axle. That’s enough, says Alfa Romeo, to see the sporty sedan from standstill to 100 km/h in 3,9 seconds … and on to a top speed of 307 km/h.
