Ford has officially licensed Classic Restorations in the United States to build brand new turn-key versions of three very special Mustangs: the Boss 302, Boss 429 and Mach 1 (all originally built in 1969 and 1970). Each will be created to customer specification using modern chassis and drivetrain technology.

The first to be produced will be the Mustang Boss 429, which will debut at the 2018 SEMA show in Las Vegas in November. An original 1969/70 body can be used, but if customers prefer, they can opt for a new licensed body from Ford. The Boss 429 will sport a custom 7,0-litre V8 with updated valvetrain, electronic fuel injection and engine management systems.

A similar setup will be used for the Boss 302 and the Mach 1, although the 302 will be offered with two engine options: the current 5,0-litre Coyote V8 found in the 2018 Mustang GT or a custom 5,9-litre V8 stroker engine that uses a 302 block.

The Mach 1’s engine option list has a lot more variety to it. This model can be fitted with any engines offered by Classic Restorations, including a selection of EcoBoost mills.
