Back in September 2017, the Audi RS4 Avant was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, drawing its urge from a twin-turbo 2,9-litre V6. And now the performance wagon has finally popped up on Audi South Africa’s website, complete with pricing.
Interestingly, we had to have a proper dig around the local website to find the vehicle, which is strangely listed only on the mobile version. And while the website does confirm a starting price of R1 211 500 (as seen in the screengrab below), the link to more info on the vehicle is not yet active.
Still, we already know the RS4 Avant’s V6 petrol engine generates 331 kW and 600 N.m, directed to all four wheels via an eight-speed tiptronic transmission (a rear sport differential enabling torque division between the rear wheels is also offered).
That’s enough, says the Ingolstadt-based firm, for a 0-100 km/h time of just 4,1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (or 30 km/h higher with the optional RS dynamic package specified). For the record, the six-cylinder makes its peak twisting force from 1 900 r/min all the way through to 5 000 r/min.
The RS sport suspension sees the RS4 Avant ride some 7 mm lower than the standard A4 with sport suspension, while dynamic ride control will be available as an option, along with ceramic brakes and RS-specific dynamic steering.
The speedy estate rides on 19-inch forged alloys as standard, with 20-inch wheels set to be offered as an option. Inside, you’ll find RS sport seats with an optional honeycomb pattern, along with a flat-bottomed RS leather multifunction sport steering wheel.
