Albert Biermann, the head of the Hyundai Motor Group’s vehicle test and high-performance development division, says he will pitch a new N-badged model to the Korean brand’s top management "within the next two or three months".

Speaking to Automotive News, Biermann said that his team “could come up with a car in a pretty short time”.

"There's a car within the next two or three months that we probably have a chance to show to vice chairman Chung and our top management," the former BMW M boss told the US-based publication.

"Depending on what is the current mood and situation, we might get a spontaneous ‘okay, go for it'," he said.

Hyundai’s high-performance range already includes the i30 N and Veloster N, with the i30 Fastback N set to join the line-up after its official reveal at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018.

Biermann confirmed that a fourth member, possibly in the form of an SUV, was also on the cards, but revealed that another model (which he refers to in the quotes above) could arrive before then.

In July 2018, Thomas Schemera, Hyundai’s head of high-performance and motorsport, confirmed that the Korean brand’s N division was working on a new standalone “halo model”.
