Lamborghini says it delivered 4 553 vehicles to customers around the world in the first half of 2019, representing a whopping 96 percent increase on the same period in 2018.

For the sake of comparison, that figure surpasses the Italian firm’s full year sales numbers of 2017 and comes after 2018 sales figures grew by 51 percent.

Of course, the Urus was the driving force behind Lamborghini’s latest sales growth spurt, with 2 693 units of the SUV registered in the first six months of 2019. Meanwhile, the Huracán accounted for 1 211 units, including deliveries during the Huracán Performante’s run-out period and the introduction of the Huracán Evo. And some 649 units of the V12-powered Aventador were sold, too.

Lamborghini says its largest single market for the reporting period was again the United States, followed by Greater China and the United Kingdom, Japan and Germany.

The region with the strongest growth was America with an increase of 128 percent to 1 543 units, followed by Asia Pacific, which more than doubled sales to 1 184 units. The Europe, Middle East and Africa region, meanwhile, grew 67 percent to 1 826 units.

“Lamborghini continues to be in consistently good shape. Delivering another new all-time high, for the fifth consecutive half-year, confirms the sustainability of our brand, product and commercial strategy,” said Stefano Domenicali, chairman and chief executive officer of Lamborghini.

“Our highly acclaimed super SUV Urus in its first full year of production brings further growth in new dimensions, and our super sports cars also delivered excellent results. This has been possible thanks to the team, which I would like to thank for the passion, dedication and competence they invest in their everyday work.”

While Lamborghini said it expected “sustained solid growth” for the remainder of 2019, Domenicali separately told Automotive News Europe the firm "must not go on growing forever”, explaining it have to “consolidate these results and preserve exclusivity".
