Bugatti has confirmed production of the W16-powered Chiron will cease at the “end of 2021”, with “fewer than 100” units of the 500-strong run still available.

However, from what we understand, the French firm will continue building derivatives based on the Chiron chassis past that date.

“Although we’re proud to look back on our past, we’re looking forward to the future with purpose and pleasure,” said Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti.

“In 2019, we were again able to increase our production and also deliver more customised Chiron vehicles to our customers. This year, the first Divo models, a hyper-sportscar specially designed for lateral acceleration, will leave our studio in Molsheim,” he added, pointing out all 40 had already been sold.

Winkelmann went on to say the firm would “present further high-performance vehicles in 2020” following talk of a second model being added to the Bugatti range.

“All I can say is this: we’ll be presenting a few interesting surprises in 2020. We have several ideas and are continuing to work on the future of our traditional marque,” he said.
