Peugeot-Citroën South Africa’s managing director says he sees an “exciting future” for the Citroën brand after its return to local shores.

The French marque exited the country at the end of 2016, but has now returned with a three-strong model range comprising the C3 hatchback, C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross.

“We are moving forward in creating a new and exciting future, one that produces great opportunities for our customers,” said Xavier Gobille, managing director of Citroën SA.

Interestingly, the automaker’s local arm is offering a five-year/100 000 km service plan (and a warranty of the same length) standard across the range.

Dubbed “Citroën Serenity”, the package mirrors the “Peugeot Pride” arrangement launched locally in September 2019. It includes use of a courtesy car, a complimentary vehicle health check, microdot technology and access to a 24-hour customer care centre. There’s also roadside assistance and a licence renewal reminder system included in the deal.

“Citroën Serenity will give prospective customers’ confidence in purchasing a Citroën and reinforces the commitment both Citroën South Africa and Groupe PSA have in the local market,” Gobille said.

“It also underscores our confidence in the new generation of Citroën products we’re introducing,” he added.
