BMW Group South Africa hasn’t released individual model sales figures in quite some time. But we’ve managed to lay our hands on the German firm’s sales stats for September 2020.

For the record, BMW Group SA (so, including Mini) registered 1 151 passenger vehicle units in September, while exporting 4 773 units (all in the form of the locally built X3, of course).

So, which models performed best for the brand in September? Well, the 3 Series led the pack with 224 units registered, with the aforementioned X3 hot on its heels with 206 units.

Next was the 2 Series range (made up of the 2 Series coupé and 2 Series Gran Coupé line-ups) at 131 units, followed by the X1 (117) and 1 Series (101). The X5 contributed 74 units (compared with the X6’s 17), while the X4 and X7 each chipped in with 20. The 8 Series range contributed 16 registrations.

The X2 and Z4 settled for nine units apiece, while the outgoing 4 Series range (we already have pricing for the new 4 Series) managed seven, a figure matched by the likewise-outgoing 5 Series. The all-electric i3 ended the month on four units, one more than the 7 Series luxury sedan.

And the Mini line-up? Well, the three-door hatch was predictably the top seller with 66 units, with the Countryman some 10 units behind. The five-door hatch ended September on 35 registrations, while the Mini Convertible finished on seven units.
