Mercedes-Benz has reportedly pulled out of the 2020 New York International Auto Show, which takes place in April next year.

According to Automotive News, the Stuttgart-based firm will not attend the event in New York. A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson told the publication it would instead focus on launching new products using “non-traditional marketing methods”.

Mercedes earlier also pulled out of two other US-based shows (Detroit and Chicago), while it has not yet confirmed its attendance for the Los Angeles show (which is admittedly some 11 months away).

“We don't know what their long-term plans are. Brands change their marketing strategies. Hopefully, next year, we'll hear back from them," Mark Scheinberg, New York International Auto Show president, told Automotive News.

Scheinberg added Mercedes-Benz dealers in the United States weren’t happy with the German firm's decision.

"The response from the dealers when they heard that Mercedes is going to bypass the show was pretty strong. They thought it didn't make a lot of sense."
