Daimler has announced plans to reveal the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS in China later in November 2019, confirming earlier rumours the vehicle would go into production.

In a press release, the Stuttgart-based firm said the Maybach-badged newcomer would be “based on the largest Mercedes-Benz SUV model”, offering “plenty of space for first-class front and rear compartments”.

The automaker promised “state-of-the-art technology, exceptional comfort and the Maybach design philosophy” would combine to make the vehicle a “hallmark Maybach luxury experience”.

Set to be fully revealed at Auto Guangzhou 2019 on 21 November, the new vehicle follows five years after the reveal of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class (at the same location).

Of course, we've already seen an interesting render of the upcoming Maybach-badged GLS, with power likely to come from the firm's twin-turbo V8 petrol engine.
