Well, that’s interesting. A digital artist has transformed the Mercedes-AMG G63 into a two-door model, giving Affalterbach’s angry off-roader proportions not far off those of the Suzuki Jimny.

And in a way it’s fitting because ever since the reveal of the Jimny, comparisons have been made between the tiny Japanese SUV and the German firm’s hulking Geländewagen. But this is the first time we’ve seen the G63 in short-wheelbase form … albeit digitally.

The convincing rendering – which we first spotted on autoevolution – comes courtesy of the folks over at Car News Network, who posted the image on their Instagram page (we’ve embedded said post below).

Of course, the original G-Class was offered in two-door guise way back when, so such a thing existed (although not in AMG guise). Still, we certainly don’t expect Mercedes to remove a pair of portals from its current model…

As a reminder, the G63 employs a twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 worth a whopping 430 kW and 850 N.m. The result is a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 4,5 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h (or 240 km/h with the optional AMG Driver’s package selected).
