UK-based tuner Urban Automotive has given the already brutish Mercedes-AMG G63 some extra carbon-fibre, wider tracks and even more under-bonnet muscle.

Thanks to the company’s so-called "700 HP Upgrade Package", the 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill in the standard G63 we drove in 2018 now produces 522 kW (up from 430 kW). Peak torque output, interestingly, has remained unchanged at 850 N.m (between 2 500 and 3 500 r/min) and is again sent to all four corners. The firm says this cuts the claimed zero to 100 km/h time to just four seconds (down half a second).

Various wheel designs are available in  22-, 23- or 24-inch sizes, wrapped in performance tyres. According to Urban Automotive, the tuned Geländewagen, seen here in white, features a 50 mm wider track and rides lower than the stock SUV.

Various carbon-fibre elements have been fitted to the wide-body exterior, with the Milton Keynes-based firm replacing the bumpers, side sills and wheel arches with items fashioned from the lightweight material. A carbon rear wing and exhaust tips are included, too.

So, how much does all this extra carbon and power cost?

Urban Automotive quotes a figure of £197 600 (that's a little over R3,4-million in our money) for this uprated G-Class...
