Police in Canada have charged the 19-year-old driver of a W204-generation Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG for allegedly clocking 308 km/h on a highway.

The Ontario Provincial Police’s highway safety division tweeted it had nabbed the teenager speeding on Queen Elizabeth Way in the Burlington area. The young man was driving his father’s C63 AMG coupé and had a second 19-year-old male in the vehicle at the time.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the teenager was charged with street racing (under Ontario's Highway Traffic Act) and criminal dangerous driving. In Canada, the latter carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The 6,2-litre V8-powered coupé (which seemingly has had its electronic speed limiter removed) was immediately impounded and the teenger's licence confiscated for seven days.
