Like the SLC, the current-generation Mercedes-Benz SL is nearing the end of its lifecycle. And now the Stuttgart-based brand has given its flagship roadster the "Grand Edition" treatment.

Available for the V6-powered SL400 and the V8-powered SL500, the upgrade includes special colour combinations inside and out, along with additional standard equipment.

Grand Edition models will be offered in a choice of four metallic exterior colours (black, white, grey and obsidian black). Regardless of the chosen hue, the front bumper gains extra high-gloss chrome and matte silver trim.

The special variants furthermore boast 19-inch front and 20-inch rear ten-spoke AMG alloys painted in high-gloss black, complete with a high-sheen rim flange and spokes.

Inside, you’ll immediately notice the designo tundra brown pearl leather (with a "shimmering metallic surface", says Mercedes) used atop the facia. This material has also been applied to the sports steering wheel, along with perforated black nappa leather.

All Grand Edition models will ship standard with the Daimler-backed brand’s signature Airscarf neck-level heating system, a sports suspension system (firmer than standard and lowered by an additional 10 mm), active multi-contour seats (with massage and dynamic handling functions), seat climate control, the German automaker's driving assistance plus package and active parking assist.
