Ever wondered what an SUV version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class bakkie would look like? Well, wonder no more. Brazil-based digital artist Kleber Silva has rendered exactly that…

Of course, much has been made of the fact the X-Class shares the bulk of its greasy bits with the Nissan Navara. And, since the Japanese automaker revealed its Navara-based body-on-frame SUV earlier in 2018, what better base to use than the Terra?

In fact, we had a scrounge around the internet and found the very image of the Terra on which Silva based his X-Class SUV rendering (interestingly, he horizontally flipped the image).
Nissan TerraSilva simply grafted the front end of what appears to be the Power derivative of the X-Class bakkie onto the SUV. Indeed, from the A-pillar back, the two appear identical, bar the different alloy wheel designs. Still, we suspect the Stuttgart-based brand won’t go this route with its X-Class, considering it already has a considerable stable of SUVs.

The digital artist took things a step further, though, also rendering an SUV version of the Renault Alaskan (pictured below). The French bakkie, of course, likewise shares its underpinnings with the Navara.

For the record, the seven-seater Nissan Terra offered in Thailand is powered the 2,3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine from the Navara, mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, while petrol versions are available in China.

In February 2018, Nissan SA told CARmag.co.za it was “working closely” with its parent company to “develop a vehicle that is suitable to the sub-Saharan market”. If the Terra does indeed hit local shores, expect it to be powered by the familiar 2,3-litre diesel engine.
