Back in October 2018, Carlex Design revealed initial images of a crazy 6x6 concept based on the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. And now the Poland-based firm has released fresh design images of its upcoming monster three-axle bakkie.

Take note that the vehicle you see here – called the Exy Monster X – doesn’t actually exist yet, with the firm having thus far only imagined the highly modified X-Class in a design studio (interestingly, while the original design employed off-road tyres, this latest one runs on road-biased Bridgestone Potenza rubber).

Still, Carlex Design’s bakkie division (which operates under the “Pickup Design” name) has made a habit of delivering on its design promises, so we’d expect the upcoming “real thing” not to stray too far from the idea presented here.

Interestingly, the firm says the entire body of its three-axle X-Class would be fashioned from carbon-fibre, while the load bed would be finished in a “protective structural paint” in yellow (a hue repeated on other body elements and inside).

As you can tell from the images, the bakkie was also “significantly” widened, lowered and lengthened, while Carlex Design says the brakes would be upgraded to ceramic-carbon items. The vehicle furthermore gains a winch at the front and one at the rear, as well as additional external lighting.

While Carlex Design hasn’t yet released much in the way of technical information, it seems likely the 6×6 monster would be based on the X350d 4Matic, which employs a 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel worth 190 kW and 550 N.m.
