Aston Martin has taken the wraps off its new DB11 AMR, a more hardcore offering that replaces the outgoing V12-engined derivative as the new flagship of the DB11 range.

The DB11 AMR gains more power, improved performance, ostensibly enhanced driving dynamics and a “more characterful” exhaust note, along with a smattering of updates both inside and out.

The new flagship is powered by the Gaydon-based brand’s twin-turbo 5,2-litre V12, here tuned to develop 470 kW (or an additional 23 kW over the DB11 V12 it replaces). Peak torque is unchanged at 700 N.m, while the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint time improves by two-tenths to a claimed 3,7 seconds. Top speed, meanwhile, is pegged at 335 km/h, making the DB11 AMR the fastest model in Aston Martin’s current range.

Aston Martin says the DB11 AMR’s handling benefits from a “greater sense of connection without harming the supple ride”, while a new shift calibration for the transmission and a “slightly more vocal exhaust note” has also been included.

In terms of styling, the DB11 AMR gains plenty of exposed carbon-fibre and gloss-black detailing, with all the exterior brightwork featuring a monochrome treatment. The dark headlamp surrounds and smoked tail-lamps are joined by a darkened grille and tailpipes, along with a gloss-black roof. The side sills, front splitter, bonnet blades and side strakes also feature an exposed carbon-fibre finish.

Inside, you’ll find leather/Alcantara upholstery and a bold lime stripe running down the centre of the seats. A leather sports steering wheel is also included as standard.
