BMW has taken the wraps off the long-wheelbase version of its new 3 Series in China, with the sedan apparently gaining a full 110 mm extra between its axles.

According to AutoWeek, the new model gains some 120 mm of total extra length (body length, that is), measuring about 4 830 mm nose to tail. Its wheelbase, meanwhile, grows to around 2 960 mm.

Built by BMW Brilliance Automotive, the German firm says its new model is “tailor-made for Chinese customers”, which suggests we won’t see this long-wheelbase model in other markets.

Developed alongside the standard-wheelbase G20-generation model, this so-called “Li” derivative takes in account the “preferences of Chinese customers”, serving up yet more interior space (mostly in the rear quarters) and adding various “luxury comfort configurations”.

The derivative pictured here wears the 325 Li badge, which AutoWeek says points to a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine under the bonnet (essentially the same mill that powers the new 320i).
