Leaked images of the new BMW 4 Series has emerged online a couple of days ahead of the full unveiling of the fresh-faced G22-generation coupé.

As you can tell from the image above and the embedded Instagram posts below, the Munich-based firm has carried over the controversial large kidney grille from 2019’s Concept 4 largely unchanged. And, like on that show car, the numberplate is affixed across the centre of the grille.

The derivative in the leaked images – which appear to come from a brochure (containing shots from Cape Town, judging by the background) and were posted on Instagram by BMWorldM and CocheSpias – is clearly the M440i xDrive.

BMW has already confirmed this all-paw M Performance variant will employ a turbocharged 3,0-litre line-six petrol engine worth 275 kW, while also featuring 48 V mild-hybrid technology (adding 8 kW for short bursts).

Interestingly, one of the leaked brochure images also lists the exterior paint colours that will be available on the new 4 Series. They are Alpine White, Black (non-metallic), Mineral White, Bluestone, Arctic Race Blue, Portimao Blue, Sanremo Green, Sunset Orange, Black Sapphire, Brilliant White, Dravite Grey, Frozen Deep Grey, Frozen Portimao Blue and Tanzanite Blue.
