Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has added a new limited edition variant to its local range, claiming the ASX Sport offers “added value” to the tune of R30 000.

Using the ASX GLX derivative as a base and available in either grey or white, the limited-edition model is priced at R399 995 … exactly the same as the model on which it is based.

The local arm of the Japanese automaker says the ASX Sport is set apart from its siblings chiefly by its decal set, which comprises carbon-fibre-look inserts plus black and orange detailing (a scheme similar to that used on the Triton Athlete bakkie). It furthermore runs on a set of model-specific gloss-black alloys.

Inside, you’ll find an upgraded infotainment system complete with a seven-inch touchscreen boasting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, as well as branded carpets. Leather upholstery (with heated seats up front), an electrically adjustable driver’s seat and a panoramic glass roof are also included.

Under the bonnet, the ASX Sport features the brand’s familiar naturally aspirated 2,0-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Perak outputs are an unchanged 110 kW and 197 N.m.

As with the rest of the range, the limited-edition variant is covered by a three-year/100 000 km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).
