Mitsubishi has released a fresh teaser of its new Triton, while also confirming the latest version of its bakkie will be fully revealed on 9 November in Thailand.

In our earlier story (complete with shadowy teaser) published in September 2018, we suggested a facelifted version of the fifth-generation model – which is also badged “L200” in some markets – was on the way. However, the Japanese brand has now described the upcoming model as the "Series 6" version, suggesting it will be positioned as a completely new generation.

The latest teaser image shows the bakkie (in double-cab guise) partially obscured by a large cloud of dust. However, it does give us a closer look (we've zoomed in below) at the Triton’s latest “Dynamic Shield” face, a visage similar to the one worn by Mitsubishi's latest SUVs, such as the Pajero Sport and Eclipse Cross.

Mitsubishi (which is, of course, now firmly part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance) says the new model has been “designed to be Engineered Beyond Tough”, adding that it will boast “enhanced performance, functionality, durability, safety and refinement”.

The automaker furthermore claims the new Triton has been “developed using feedback from owners across the world”.
