Back in September 2018, we brought you local pricing for the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR. Now, after a bit of a delay (one interestingly experienced by most markets), the Coventry-based firm’s high-performance SUV has finally arrived on South African soil.

Pricing now starts at R1 499 400 (a smidgen more than we initially reported), and includes a five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan.

The SVR-badged version of the F-Pace employs the firm's supercharged 5,0-litre V8, sending 405 kW and 680 N.m to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission. That’s enough grunt, says Jaguar, for a 4,3-second sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of 283 km/h.

Local buyers will have the choice of seven exterior paint finishes along with four interior colour themes. The flagship F-Pace furthermore gains various aerodynamic enhancements, such as larger air intakes up front as well as side fender vents, which the brand says lower pressure in the wheel arches, reduce lift and provide additional cooling, while also optimising high-speed stability.

There are also model-specific wheel arch extensions and lower body mouldings, along with the obligatory vented SVR bonnet. At the rear, you’ll notice the unique spoiler is joined by a new bumper housing the menacing quad-tailpipes of the active (and lightweight) exhaust system. The bumper furthermore incorporates side strakes aiding aerodynamic performance.

Jaguar says the uprated chassis has progressive front and rear springs that are 30 and 10 percent stiffer, respectively. New 21-inch and optional 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels are wider at the rear by 25 mm compared with the front. The brakes, too, are heftier, with 395 mm front and 396 mm rear discs offered as standard. The SVR is also the first F-Pace to features Jaguar’s rear "Electronic Active Differential".

Inside, you’ll be greeted by performance front seats the automaker says provide added lateral support, as well as an SVR-branded steering wheel with aluminium paddle shifters.

Look out for a driving impression of the F-Pace SVR in our upcoming June 2019 issue.
