British luxury automaker Aston Martin has revealed the DBS GT Zagato in celebration of the Italian coach builder’s 100-year anniversary.

Joining the DB4 Zagato continuation model, the DBS Superleggera-based GT Zagato completes the firm’s DBZ centenary collection. Aston Martin says these cars represent its “most valuable new sportscars yet”, with each of the available 19 pairs costing £6 million (that’s R111 241 033,68 at the current exchange rate).

The DBS GT Zagato employs a 5,2-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol engine, producing 566 kW and 900 N.m of torque. The car seen here is dressed in “supernova red” paint, a hue exclusive to models equipped to “Centenary Specification” level.

Included in this package is an exposed carbon-fibre roof and rear diffuser, and satin black-and-gold alloy wheels, replete with centre lock wheel nuts. Solid 18-carat gold wing badges can be found fore and aft. The interior is trimmed in “Caithness spicy red” leather, featuring quilted seats with the Milan-based company’s logo embossed in the headrests. Carbon fibre has been added to the steering wheel and the paddle shifters.

The partnership between Aston Martin and Zagato stretches six decades.

“They have taken the already fabulous DBS Superleggera and shaped it into something which retains its Aston Martin identity, yet expresses itself as only a Zagato can. It is the modern expression of a timeless icon,” said Aston Martin executive vice president and chief creative officer Marek Reichman.
