Bentley South Africa has released local pricing for its new Continental GT V8 variants, which slot in below the W12 derivatives.

Revealed back in March 2019, the eight-cylinder engine is offered in both coupé and convertible body styles (just like the W12).

Each is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 offering 405 kW and 770 N.m (compared with the 6,0-litre W12’s 467 kW and 900 N.m) to all four wheels. Top speed comes in at 318 km/h, with the coupé hitting 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 4,0 seconds and the convertible taking one-tenth longer.

Pricing for the Continental GT V8 Coupé starts at R3 450 000 while the Continental GT V8 Convertible kicks off at R3 795 000.

While the Crewe-based firm’s local arm has increased the prices of the W12 versions (seemingly in an attempt to make room for the new eight-cylinder models), there’s still some overlap, with the flagship 12-cylinder version of the coupé coming in at R3 650 000, or some R145 000 less expensive than the V8 Convertible. Check out full pricing for the four-strong range below.

Bentley claims the V8 offers “greater range” than the flagship model plus a “characterful V8 burble though the stylish quad exhaust pipes”. Both V8 variants feature 20-inch 10-spoke alloys (although optional items measuring up to 22 inches are available), “subtle” V8 badging and handcrafted interiors.

The V8 models furthermore gain front and rear hollow anti-roll bars, while Bentley’s intelligent “Dynamic Ride System” is available as an option.

Pricing:
Bentley Continental GT V8 Coupé: R3 450 000
Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible: R3 795 000
Bentley Continental GT W12 Coupé: R3 650 000
Bentley Continental GT W12 Convertible: R4 095 000
