The folks over at Mountune have released a fresh tuning package for the Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI, pushing peak power to 283 kW.

Of course, in 2019, Mountune announced it was branching out from exclusively tuning Ford vehicles, revealing stage one packages for both the Golf GTI and Golf R under a fresh sub-division called Mountune52.

This latest upgrade for the front-driven GTI, though, is a stage two kit that arrives just before the introduction of the Golf 8 GTI.

The turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder EA888 engine retains the upgrades featured in the first stage, which pushed the standard outputs of 169 kW and 350 N.m to 228 kW and 475 N.m. The stage two package, however, includes the fitment of an IS38 turbocharger (from the Golf R) featuring bespoke calibration. This sees the turbo-four top out at a tasty 283 kW and 510 N.m of torque.

For buyers who want to make the most of this package, the Golf GTI's dual-clutch transmission can be fitted with a TCU DSG-calibration upgrade. Mountue52 claims that with these upgrades, the GTI is able to accelerate from 0-97 km/h in just 5,2 seconds.
