The Volvo P1800 is a halo heritage car for the Swedish brand and to commemorate the impact it’s had, Cyan Racing has given it a new lease on life.

Starting with the engine, the reborn model ditches its twin-carb 1,8-litre four-cylinder engine and adopts a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-pot, good for 308 kW at 7 000 r/min and 455 N.m at 6 000 r/min. The engine can rev out all the way to 7 700 r/min.

Induction is provided by a Borg Warner EFR turbocharger with ceramic ball bearings and gamma-ti turbine wheel. The engine is attached to a dual-tube, stainless-steel exhaust system with twin catalytic converters.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual synchromesh, helical-cut, dog-leg gearbox with a 200 mm single-plate clutch and a single-mass steel flywheel. A carbon-fibre propshaft, which connects to a limited slip differential, saves weight.

Helping it to tip the scales at just 990 kg is a carbon-fibre and high-strength steel body plus a titanium roll cage. For a track-focused handling, the P1800 sits on three-way adjustable front and rear double wishbone suspension with tubular anti-roll bars. The rack and pinion steering also offers an adjustable ratio.

Stopping power comes in the form of four-piston callipers on the front and rear axle with 362 mm front and 330 mm rear steel discs. A set of 235/40 R18 front and 265/35 R18 rear Pirelli P Zero tyres are wrapped round 18-inch centrelock wheels.

Keeping the experience as mechanical as possible, the P1800 does away with a brake booster and ABS.
