The facelifted BMW 7 Series has finally hit the market in South Africa, with the local range comprising five derivatives at launch.

Of course, we already shared initial pricing as long ago as January 2019 (soon after the refreshed model’s reveal), before BMW SA confirmed the final figures in April. But now the flagship sedan has officially touched down on local soil.

As we’ve already reported, only long-wheelbase variants (and thus no longer the standard-wheelbase models) are available locally, mirroring the approach taken by Mercedes-Benz South Africa with its S-Class saloon.

The line-up kicks off with the 740Li from R1 638 400, while the 730Ld will set you back from R1 669 400. The plug-in hybrid 745Le xDrive is next from R1 755 300, with the 750Li xDrive (employing the brand’s 4,4-litre V8 engine, here worth 390 kW) starting at R2 156 700.

And the V12-powered M760Li xDrive? Well, the flagship M Performance version of the 7 Series lives on, bearing a starting price of R2 806 400. This variant can furthermore be ordered in Excellence guise, for the same price.

As a reminder, the large-of-grille facelifted 7 Series ships standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system, comprising a navigation and multimedia system, together with a fully digital, high-resolution instrument cluster with a screen diagonal of 12,3 inches, plus a control display measuring 10,25 inches across.

The German brand’s so-called “Intelligent Personal Assistant” is another element of the newly included BMW Operating System 7.0 system.
