Ferrari has pulled back the covers from the Roma, a fresh-faced newcomer arriving as a front-engined V8 coupé.

The Roma is the Maranello-based firm’s fifth new model of 2019, slotting in just above the Portofino to take on the likes of Aston Martin’s Vantage and Mercedes-AMG’s hottest GT coupé.

Drawing its urge from a version of Ferrari’s twin-turbo 3,9-litre V8 engine (mated with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that debuted on the SF90 Stradale), the Roma offers 456 kW between 5 750 and 7 500 r/min, along with 760 N.m from 3 000 to 5 750 r/min.

That’s enough, says Ferrari, for a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 3,4 seconds, with the 200 km/h mark reached in a claimed 9,3 seconds. Top speed, meanwhile, is listed as "more than" 320 km/h. The firm claims a dry weight (with unspecified lightweight options fitted) of 1 472 kg.

Measuring 4 656 mm long, 1 974 mm wide and 1 301 mm tall (with a wheelbase of 2 670 mm), Ferrari describes the new Roma as a “contemporary representation of the carefree, pleasurable way of life that characterised Rome in the 1950s and ‘60s”.
