After numerous teasers and many a "leaked" image, the new McLaren 720S has finally officially been revealed.

Making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the newcomer is the first model in the second-generation of McLaren's Super Series range.

McLaren says the 720S is lighter, faster and "even more dynamically capable" than the 650S it replaces, with "unparalleled levels of interior space and sophistication".

It also introduces a new reinterpretation of McLaren's design language, which the British automaker says is rooted in aerodynamic principles.

Notice something missing along the flanks? Well, McLaren says the obvious absence of radiator intakes is possible thanks to their function being carried out instead by the unique "double-skin" aerodynamic form of the dihedral doors, which channel air to the radiators that cool the mid-mounted engine.

As we learned a little while ago, the new M480T engine is a twin-turbocharged V8 displacing 4,0 litres. McLaren says it has 41% new part content compared to the familiar 3,8-litre engine, and generates 530 kW and 770 N.m.

The result is a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in less than three seconds. Just five seconds later, McLaren says the 720S passes the 200 km/h mark on its way to a maximum speed of 341 km/h. Braking is equally impressive, with the new 720S coming to a halt from 200km/h in just 4,6 seconds, covering 117 metres.
