It’s been a long wait but we finally have local pricing for the second-generation Audi A7 Sportback (which was revealed as long ago as October 2017) ahead of its launch in South Africa.

From what we can tell, at launch the local range will comprise just a single derivative in the form of the A7 55 TFSI Quattro S tronic. The starting price? R1 250 000.

This variant employs the Ingolstadt-based firm’s turbocharged 3,0-litre V6 (complete with a mild-hybrid arrangement), which directs 250 kW and 500 N.m (the latter between 1 370 and 4 500 r/min) to all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

That’s enough, says Audi, for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 5,3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Standard features on the SA-spec A7 55 TFSI will include 20-inch alloys, Matrix LED headlamps, an active rear spoiler, a panoramic glass sunroof, LED rear combination lamps (with dynamic turn signals), four-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats (with four-way lumbar support and a heating function), Audi virtual cockpit plus, MMI navigation plus (with touch response) and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

The local arm of the German firm will, of course, also offer various options for the A7 Sportback, including an S line exterior package (R31 350), a Black styling package (R10 450), S sports seats up front (R28 350), various paint colours (including a Daytona Grey Pearlescent hue for R17 500), different alloy wheel designs (up to 21 inches in diameter) and uprated headlamps (with laser lights and headlamp washers).

All-wheel steering will also be offered for an additional R33 050, while adaptive air suspension will cost you a further R34 600. A range of driver assistance systems will also be available.
