Suzuki South Africa has added a pair of new turbocharged flagship variants to its Vitara range, each powered by the engine from the latest Swift Sport.

This new 1,4-litre Boosterjet powerplant in the Vitara Turbo (known in some overseas markets as the "Vitara S") offers 103 kW and 220 N.m (down 10 units on the Swift Sport's peak twisting force) to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. The former is priced at R378 900 while the self-shifting model comes in at R397 900.

Pricing includes a promotional five-year/200 000 km warranty.

Of course, the five existing derivatives in the local Vitara range each employ a naturally aspirated 1,6-litre petrol engine (worth 86 kW and 156 N.m).
