Kia Motors South Africa has confirmed local pricing for its new Seltos, while also announcing that a diesel variant will join the range in early 2020.

As we’ve already reported, the Indian-built local range – which is set to take on the likes of the new Volkswagen T-Cross – will comprise four variants at launch and slot in below the Sportage.

The base Seltos EX employs the Korean brand’s naturally aspirated 1,6-litre petrol engine, delivering 90 kW and 151 N.m to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The XE+ variant, meanwhile, uses the same powerplant (offered in automatic guise only) but gains a bit of extra standard equipment. The Seltos GT-Line boasts a turbocharged 1,4-litre petrol engine offering 103 kW and 242 N.m to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Kia Motors South Africa furthermore says a 1,5-litre CRDi engine will join the Seltos line-up in the first quarter of 2020, offered with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Pricing for these diesel models will be announced closer to their local introduction.

As a reminder, the new Seltos measures 4 315 mm long, 1 800 mm wide and 1 620 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2 610 mm. All models are covered by a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan.
