Lamborghini has officially revealed the Huracán Perfomante at the Geneva Motor Show, describing it as capable of delivering "perfect performance".

The Huracán Performante combines lightweight technologies, active aerodynamics, a new chassis set-up (with stiffened suspension), tweaked all-wheel drive and a further improved powertrain.

The result? A new production car lap record of 6:52.01 min on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.

Based on a hybrid aluminium and carbon-fibre frame, the Huracán Performante's body is produced from aluminium and forged composite, achieving a claimed weight reduction of some 40 kg.

It also features a new active aerodynamics system, providing an active variation of aero load for high downforce (Lamborghini claims the maximum vertical downforce is a whopping 750% more than that of a Huracán coupé) or low drag.

The latest version of the naturally aspirated Huracán engine is the most powerful V10 produced to date by Lamborghini. Worth 470 kW at 8 000 r/min and 600 N.m at 6 500 r/min, it is visually distinguished by a new bronze manifold.

So, what changes have been made to this 5,2-litre, ten-cylinder mill? Well, engine fluid dynamics for both intake and exhaust have been optimised, as has the V10's air intake system. And new titanium valves allow higher valve lifts to increase engine permeability and performance.

The exhaust system has also been redesigned to achieve weight reduction. Lamborghini says the exhaust pipes, positioned at a higher and more central position, deliver a more aggressive sound in "high performance use". The seven-speed dual clutch transmission has furthermore been optimised to match the increased performance.

The Performante's dry weight is a claimed 1 382 kg, with weight distribution front to rear sitting at 43/57. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in a claimed 2,9 seconds, the Huracán Performante is propelled from to 200 km/h in 8,9 seconds, and apparently brakes from 100-0 km/h in 31 metres.

The Huracán Performante rides on unique lightweight, "Narvi" 20-inch forged wheels, painted in bronze, and features an uprated braking system.

The first customers will take delivery later this year.
