The first images of the new Ford EcoSport Active variant have leaked online ahead of the fresh model’s official unveiling in the first week of November 2020.

Ford Europe earlier announced the EcoSport would receive the Active treatment on that continent, with the reveal set for 6 November. However, the folks over at autonocion.com have unearthed and published images ahead of the unveiling.

As expected, the EcoSport Active gains additional plastic cladding over its wheel arches, under its front and rear bumpers and along its flanks. The newcomer furthermore sports a gloss-black finish for its roof and side-mirror caps, along with a new alloy wheel design.

Inside, the Blue Oval brand has added its “A” logo to the seats, while the windows appear to have been tinted, too. It’s not yet clear whether the EcoSport Active benefits from any suspension tweaks.

Of course, something similar has been marketed in South America for a couple of years, although the EcoSport Storm sold there also features a model-specific grille and “Storm” decals.

So, will the EcoSport Active be offered in South Africa? Well, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has yet to say. Still, it’s by no means inconceivable considering SA receives its 1,0-litre EcoBoost derivatives from the same Craiova plant in Romania that will produce this new variant...
